Form T2 is the Landlord and Tenant Board application a tenant files when a landlord has interfered with their rights: harassment, entering the unit without proper notice, withholding a vital service such as heat or water, changing the locks without giving new keys, or substantially interfering with reasonable enjoyment. It can also be used after an illegal lockout to get back into the unit.

The Board can order the landlord to stop the conduct, pay a rent abatement, pay the tenant's moving or other costs, and pay an administrative fine. Applications must generally be filed within one year of the conduct. Specific dates, times, and a clear description of each incident carry far more weight than general complaints, and photos, texts, and witness statements help. How to fill out Ontario LTB Form T2, Application About Tenant Rights

1. 1Enter the rental unit address, your name, and the landlord's name and contact information.
2. 2Tick each right you say the landlord breached, and for each one describe what happened with dates and times. Attach extra pages and evidence.
3. 3State the remedies you want: an order to stop, a rent abatement, compensation for costs, a fine, or an order letting you back into the unit.
4. 4Sign and date the application and file it with the Board with the fee (or a fee waiver request).
5. 5Serve a copy on the landlord as the Board directs and prepare for the hearing.
