Two kinds of PDF forms
Before you start, it helps to know which kind of PDF you have, because it changes how you fill it.
- Interactive forms already have fields built in. When you click, the cursor lands in a box and you can type. Government and HR forms are often like this.
- Flat forms are just a picture of a form, with no clickable fields. Scanned pages and many printable templates fall into this group. You cannot click into them, so you place your own text on top.
The good news is you can handle both the same way with a browser tool. Open the file, and either type into the detected fields or drop your own text where it belongs.
Fill out a PDF form step by step
